District Couple

Hello Friends,

As 2008 comes to a close, we think back to all the great experiences we have had and wonderful friends we have made this year as your District Couple of the Year. We will be forever grateful for the opportunity. It is also time to start planning for next year’s District Couple selection process. We are eager to begin, and plan to meet with all chapter couples in attendance at the District staff meeting on January 17^th. We will discuss things current couples need to know and how they can best prepare for the upcoming selection. Your chapter couples will begin working on their resumes and presentations. Please encourage them. Also encourage your chapter members to make plans to attend the selection process at the LA rally in April to offer their support. Friendly faces in the audience can mean so much!

We would also like to offer information on recent updates to the Couple of the Year program and manual. A complete copy of the manual can be found at http://med.gwrra.org/index.htm on the Couple of the Year division tab.

Most significant of the changes is that couples may now serve two consecutive years at the chapter and district levels. Associate members may participate in the couples program, but only at the chapter level. Another significant change is that music, props, or other special effects are not permitted during the selection process.

An excellent powerpoint presentation entitled “Couple of the Year Program Brief” has also been added to the Couple of the Year district webpage. This presentation is an excellent source of information and explains all aspects of the Couple of the Year progam in detail. It is a “must see” for all current and future couples at all levels.
